I am a registered accredited practitioner with a broad spectrum of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families in the field of mental health, social care and education.
As an Accredited Psychodynamic Counsellor registered with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) I am a member of the Voluntary government register with over eight years post-qualifying experience in the field of adults, children, couples and families. I am also a qualified mental health practitioner working with children, adolescents and families in a mental health setting for both the local authority and within the private sector.
In addition I have extensive experience working with families and children in the adoption arena having completed Level 1 and 2 of the highly acclaimed Dan Hughes Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP).

Experience
2006 to date: Senior Practitioner Primary Mental Health Professional working within a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) specialising in working with the affects of trauma and abuse in children who are in the care system together with foster carers and organisations that support them. Specialisms include;
- Assessments for court, local authority resource panels and social care in respect of sibling assessments, placement and therapeutic needs and permanency planning.
- Direct therapeutic work with children, their families, couples and carers including children who are looked after by the local authority.
- Specialist wrap around packages for children proposed for adoption that includes the assessment of therapeutic and future placement needs, therapeutic intervention in preparation for adoption, consultation for future adoptive parents, professionals and the organisations who support them.
- Provision of individual consultation for complex cases looking at conscious and unconscious processes that impact upon the care giving environment and future case planning for foster carers, social workers and other professionals.
- Group consultation for residential homes, foster carers and social work teams looking at conscious and unconscious processes in families, teams and the organisation.
- Supporting children, young people and their families with emotional, behavioural and mental health difficulties by providing an assessment and intervention service as part of a multi disciplinary community CAMHS team.
- Designing and delivering bespoke training packages within the field of mental health to other professionals within the local authority and private sectors.
- Provision of monthly clinical supervision to primary mental health workers looking at complex cases from a theoretical base to consider the impact of conscious and unconscious processes upon the worker, child and system around them.
2006 to date; Registered Accredited Psychodynamic Counsellor/Psychotherapist working with children, adolescents and adults within GP practices, local authority, charitable organisations, education and the private sector providing specialist services that include;
- Short term focused weekly therapeutic sessions for individuals, couples and families for a wide range of mental health difficulties including depression, trauma, abuse and grief predominantly using a psychoanalytic approach that may include the use of solution focused and cognitive behavioural methods.
- Long term weekly and twice weekly intensive therapeutic sessions for individuals, couples and families for a wide range of mental health difficulties including diagnosed mental health disorders, trauma and abuse.
- Provision of play based therapies for children struggling with mental health difficulties as a result of direct trauma or those living within environments that have suffered traumatic events.
- Assessment of therapeutic need including intake assessments, therapeutic planning and sign posting.
- Provision of Dyadic developmental psychotherapy techniques to support families who experience challenges within their relationships that may be connected to attachment difficulties.
- Monthly Clinical supervision in line with BACP professional guidelines that examine conscious and unconscious processes within the client work together with making sense of its complexity and the resulting impact upon ourselves as practitioners.
